Florida 2011

Most of you won't care about these next bunch of posts. I am using the blog for a sort of diary of our trip to Florida this year. I like to keep track of what we did and look back on it in later years. We headed to Anna Maria Island on Friday March 25, 2011 The kids went to school for half a day and we got them out at lunchtime to go meet Jeff and Kylie for our trek south. We were on the road by 1:30pm. We kept going and going and going. By 8:50pm we were in a HUGE traffic jam that lasted until 11:20pm. That's right, 2 1/2 hours going no more than 2miles per hour. It was torture. We finally got out of that! I drove until 1:30am then Jeremy took over until about 7:30, what a champ. We were able to meet up with Nick and Sarah in Lakeland or Lakeside Fla. for breakfast. We traveled the rest of the way with them. We got off on our exit around noon. Our fist stop was to Wal Mart to get all our groceries. We used my cousins truck and filled the back between us four families! Next stop was the beach house!!!! We got there around 3:30pm and couldn't be happier. After unloading our groceries we ordered some takeout from the City Pier restaurant. Then is was off to bed. We were all exhausted!! Sunday we woke up to a beautiful morning! We headed to the beach and spent the day there. Sophia wasn't feeling well, running a temp. all day so Sarah and Pam took her to the e.r. to get checked. Turns out, after another trip to the dr. on Monday morning, she has roseola. A fever with a rash!! Poor thing. Sunday night for dinner we cooked steaks on the grill. So good. Monday was an okay day. We didn't head to the beach b/c the weather was questionable. We sat by our little pool we have here at the condo. Monday evening we had a huge rain storm!! It pored. We headed over to Nick and Sarah's and Jeff and Kylie's for burgers on the grill. Tuesday was another good day. We ended up sitting on the beach almost all day! We headed up about 3:30pm and had no plans for dinner. Jeremy made venison steaks and macaroni and cheese for the kids. I headed over to The Leeuw/Terp house to hang out with Noah and Haylie while Jeremy took Hunter fishing. We were back at the condo in time for Dancing with the Stars!! Wednesday was not the best day. We started with clouds clouds and more clouds. I went for a walk in the morning and then ran to the grocery store for a few things. The sun couldn't decide if it wanted to come out or not so we didn't go to the beach. We ended up at David and Lori's pool for a good portion of the afternoon. We headed back to get ready for dinner at the Sandbar. Our family went out, all 16 of us!! It was great! We took some pictures and then walked back on the beach. After dinner we hung out on the deck with Darren and Allison for a while. Tomorrow is another day. It is supposed to rain, again. Not the best weather we have had here in Florida. Good thing we have two weeks because this weekend and next week look great!!!
